WOODSMEN’S 4-GOAL THIRD HAS ST. LOUIS SIGNING THE BLUES

Mar 2, 2025

AFFTON, Mo. — The Wisconsin Woodsmen broke out of its late February funk in a big way
Saturday afternoon, erupting for four unanswered goals in the third period — including back-
to-back tallies 16 seconds apart midway through the frame — in dropping the St. Louis Jr. Blues
4-2 at the Affton Ice Rink.

The Woodsmen, who dropped a pair of 8-3 decisions to league-leading West Bend last
weekend, found themselves staring at a 1-0 deficit heading into the game’s final 20 minutes.

And what a 20 minutes it proved to be.

After surrendering a Mason Andrews goal 44 seconds into the middle period and a Michael
Soell tally less than four minutes into the third, the Woodsmen went to work.

Justin Funk got Wisconsin on the board with his eighth of the season at 9:09 of period No. 3.
Johnny Thrasher and Maxim Lazo found the back of the net 17 seconds apart midway through
the frame to give the Woodsmen their first lead of the game, and Vincent Greene completed
the scoring with his 13 th of the year with 2:18 to play in regulation.

Funk, Hugh Deinema, Joshua Kauppinen, Brandon Slasor, and Micah Sieben all picked up assists
for the Woodsmen, while Steven Kelley did his part between the pipes, kicking out 56 of the Jr.
Blues 58 shots on goal.

The Woodsmen and Jr. Blues will close out their two-game weekend series on Sunday,
returning to the Affton Ice Rink for an 11:30 a.m. NA3HL rematch.
