The Wisconsin Woodsmen are right back in action this weekend, squaring off against the Wausau Cyclones for a pair of NA3HL contests. Wisconsin will travel to Marathon Park in Wausau, Wis., for a 7:10 p.m. matchup on Friday, before the two teams head to the Tomah Ice Center for the 7:15 p.m. rematch the following evening.

- HITTING THE ROAD: With their game at Wausau on Friday and two against Peoria next weekend, the Woodsmen play three of their next four contests on the road. Wisconsin is sitting at 2-2-1-0 on its home ice, while going 2-0-0-1 away from the Tomah Ice Center. … The Woodsmen closed out the 2023-24 campaign with a 12-12-0-0 mark at the Tomah Ice Center.
- WHITE-KNUCKLE RIDE: Six of the Woodsmen’s eight games this season have been decided by one goal — including three that have gone into overtime, and one decided by a shootout. … Wisconsin’s only non-one-goal games have been a 5-3 win over West Bend on Sept. 21 and a 6-2 victory over the Power on Oct. 5.
- HIGH-SCORING AFFAIRS. Wisconsin’s six goals in last Saturday’s 6-2 win over West Bend were a season-high. The Woodsmen have also scored five goals in a game twice, beating West Bend 5-3 on Sept. 21 and netting five in falling to Granite City 6-5 on Sept. 27.
- FRANCHISE FIRST: After going 0-9-0-1 in its 11 meetings against Wausau last season, the Woodsmen picked up their first-ever win against the Cyclones with a 3-2 victory on Sept. 20.
- LIGHTING THE LAMP: Hugh Deinema and Joshua Kauppinen share the team lead in goals with five each, one more than Mix, while Murray and Daniel Svozil have each netted three goals. Tyler Osborne and Viktor Budik both own two goals, with Michael Anderson, Brandon Slasor, Tristen May-Robinson, Maxim Lazo, Colton Holzer, and Pierson Zittel accounting for Wisconsin’s other six goals. … Deinema closed out the 2023-24 season as the Woodsmen’s leading goal scorer with 29 goals in 44 games.
- DOUBLING UP: Charles Murray and Nolan Mix each scored two goals in Wisconsin’s 6-2 victory over West Bend last Saturday — marking the first time this season the Woodsmen have had a multiple-goal scorer.
- STREAK-SNAPPER: Kauppinen had his season-opening four-game goal-scoring streak snapped in Wisconsin’s 6-5 overtime loss to Granite City on Sept. 27. … Deinema netted a goal in each of Wisconsin’s first three games.
- LENDING A HELPING HAND: Deinema owns the team lead in assists with six, followed by Mix and Budik with five each. Slasor and May-Robinson have both amassed four helpers, followed by Murray, Kauppinen, and Lazo with three each. … Budik led the Woodsmen with 30 assists a year ago, four more than Nicholas O’Brien.
- POINT PRODUCERS: With his five goals and six assists, Deinema sits atop the team’s points race with 11. Mix is second with nine points (4 G, 5 A), with Joshua Kauppinen sitting third with eight (5 G, 3 A). Budik has collected seven points (2 G, 5 A), followed by Murray with six points (3 G, 3 A), and Slasor (1 G, 4 A), May-Robinson (1 G, 3 A), and Svozil (3 G, 2 A) with five points apiece. … Wisconsin closed out the 2023-24 season with two players boasting 40+ points — Deinema with 49 (29 G, 20 A) and Hunter Nelson with 46 (23 G, 23 A).
- BETWEEN THE PIPES: Steven Kelley heads into this weekend’s matchups against Wausau sporting a 2.39 goals-against-average and a .929 save percentage. Lleyton Jaschke boasts a 4.58 GAA and a .871 save % and Otto Reinhart owns a 3.00 GAA and .896 save %.
- SPECIAL TEAMS: After managing just one power-play goal in their first six contests, the Woodsmen collected three PP goals last weekend against West Bend.
