BLAINE, Minn. — It wasn’t another 13-goal outburst for the Wisconsin Woodsmen in their
second game of the NA3HL Showcase.
But a “paltry” five goals served them just fine.
The Woodsmen got scoring from five different players — all in the first two periods — as
Wisconsin picked up its second Showcase victory, this time a 5-1 win over the Maine Nordiques
on Monday.
Coming off a 13-0 shelling of the Pelham Prowlers in Sunday’s Showcase opener, the
Woodsmen continued to sizzle on offense on Monday, getting first period goals by Nolan Mix
and Patrick Bowser to grab a quick 2-0 advantage over the Nordiques through the first 20
minutes of play.
The Woodsmen’s offense onslaught continued in the second period, as Jack Dahl, Brandon
Slasor, and Parker Holloway all found the back of the net — Holloway’s a powerplay tally with
two seconds remaining — to extend Wisconsin’s lead to 5-0 heading into the second
intermission.
Maine’s Ronan Howard foiled Lleyton Jaschke’s shutout bid, scoring the Nordiques’ lone goal
four minutes into the third period. Jaschke would finish with 23 saves between the pipes for the
Woodsmen.
Along with his second-period goal, Slasor also picked up a pair of assists for a three-point
afternoon, while Josh Kauppinen chipped in a pair of helpers.
The Woodsmen (10-15-2-1 overall) close out their three-game schedule at the NA3HL Showcase
at the National Sports Center in Blaine, Minn., on Tuesday, squaring off against the Bozeman
Icedogs. Puck drop is slated for 11:45 a.m.
