WOODSMEN OPEN SEASON WITH 6-3 WIN OVER GRIZZLIES

Sep 13, 2025

TOMAH, Wis. — There were plenty of firsts for the Wisconsin Woodsmen at the Tomah Ice
Center on Friday night.

• First game — and first home game — of the 2025-26 NA3HL season.

• First goals of the season for six different Woodsmen.

• And, most importantly, the first win of the season.

Wisconsin kicked off the 2025-26 campaign in grand fashion, erasing an early 1-0 deficit and
erupting for six goals in drubbing the Rochester Grizzlies 6-3.

The Grizzlies actually got on the board first, scoring the season’s first goal 8:31 into the opening
period.

That, however, would be the highlight of the evening for the visiting Grizzlies, as Wisconsin
countered with three unanswered tallies — a first-period goal by Cole Schrieber to tie the game
at 1-1 after the first period, and second-period goals by Micah Sieben and Ty Paulios to give the
Woodsmen a 3-1 lead with 20 minutes to play.

Rochester clawed within one two minutes into the final frame, but again the Woodsmen had an
answer, as Josh Kauppinen, Ozbej Muzan and Brandon Slasor all found the back of the net to
seal Wisconsin’s season-opening victory.

Lleyton Jaschke did his part between the pipes for the Woodsmen, turning aside 36 of the
Grizzlies 39 shots on goal — including all 17 shots he faced in the second period.

The Woodsmen and Grizzlies will square off again Saturday evening, heading to the Rochester
Rec Center in Rochester, Minn., for a 6:50 p.m. rematch.
