WOODSMEN GET BACK ON WINNING TRACK WITH 7-3 WIN OVER GRIZZLIES

Nov 10, 2024

TOMAH, Wis. — If the Wisconsin Woodsmen were feeling any ill effects from Friday’s night’s 5-
2 loss to the Rochester Grizzles — a loss that snapped their franchise-record six-game winning
streak — they certainly didn’t show it in the teams’ rematch.

The Woodmen exploded for five third-period goals — including two from Hugh Deinema —
breaking a 2-2 tie and sending Wisconsin to a 7-3 NA3HL victory Saturday at the Tomah Ice
Center.

Wisconsin dominated the opening period, getting goals from Patrick Bowser and Nolan Mix to
grab a 2-0 advantage heading into the first intermission.

As dominating as the Woodsmen were in the first period, the Grizzlies were equally as
dominant in the second, getting unanswered goals from Isaac Flatley and Ben Parent to knot
the game at 2-2 with 20 minutes to play.

And for the Woodsmen, what a 20 minutes it proved to be.

Wisconsin’s Viktor Budik and Rochester’s Cael Knutson traded goals in the first five minutes of
the final frame, before the Woodsmen took charge. Brandon Slasor gave Wisconsin the lead for
good with his fourth of the season at 7:12, before Deinema added his 12th and 13th goals of
the year and Vincent Greene scored for the fourth time this season to seal the Woodsmen
victory.

Lleyton Jaschke did his part between the pipes for the Woodsmen, stopping 30 of the 33 shots
he faced, while Rochester goalie Riley Swanson finished with 23 saves.

The Woodsmen are back in action next Friday, heading to the Kettle Moraine Ice Center in
Kettle Moraine, Wis., for a 7:30 p.m. NA3HL matchup against the West Bend Power.
