TOMAH, Wis. — When the Wisconsin Woodsmen took to the ice Saturday evening against the
West Bend Power, they were in some very rarified air.
With Friday’s 2-1 overtime win, the Woodsmen were the only team to have beaten the NA3HL
Central Division regular-season champions twice this season.
And the Woodsmen had their sights set on a weekend sweep, and a third victory over the high-
powered Power in the teams’ rematch at the Tomah Ice Center.
The Power, however, had other ideas.
West Bend erupted for four third-period goals breaking a 2-2 tie and sending the Woodsmen to
a 6-2, season-ending setback.
The Power, which held a 40-15 advantage in shots on goal in Friday’s overtime loss to
Wisconsin, peppered Woodsmen goalie Lleyton Jaschke with 50 shots in Saturday’s rematch,
including 19 in the first period and 21 in the third.
Former Woodsmen Nolan Mix got the Power on the board five minutes into the opening period
and Michael Maillette added another four minutes later to give West Bend a 2-0 advantage
heading into the first intermission.
After a scoreless second period, Josh Kauppinen and Ty Paulios both found the back of the net
early in the third period to knot the game at 2-2, only to have West Bend respond with four
unanswered goals — including a shorthanded tally by Mix and a power-play goal by Jac
Fitzerald to seal the win for the Power.
Tristan Pownall — who scored both of Wisconsin’s goals in Friday’s 2-1 OT win over the Power
— picked up assists on both Woodsmen goals on Saturday, while Jaschke finished with 44
saves.
The Woodsmen close out the 2025-26 season with a 19-24-2-2 record, while the Power — the
regular-season Central Division champions — head into post-season play sporting a 41-3-2-1
record.
