TOMAH, Wis. — The wins just keep piling up for the Wisconsin Woodsmen.
The Woodsmen, fueled by a five-goal first period, extended their winning streak to a franchise-
record six straight Saturday evening, completing a weekend sweep of the St. Louis Jr. Blues with
an 8-2 NA3HL victory at the Tomah Ice Center.
Wisconsin sealed win No. 6 in a row early in its rematch with the Jr. Blues, erupting for five
goals in the game’s opening 20 minutes. Daniel Svozil got the scoring parade started with his
fifth of the season 1:29 into the opening frame.
And by the time the first-period horn sounded, Hugh Deinema, Vincent Greene, Johnny
Thrasher, and Andrew Catalano had also found the back of the net to give the Woodsmen a
commanding 5-0 advantage.
Deinema added his second of the night just 30 seconds into the middle period, only to have St.
Louis answer with back-to-back goals before the period was five minutes old, leaving Wisconsin
with a 6-2 edge after 40 minutes of play.
Thrasher collected his first multiple-goal game with his second 3:41 into the third period, and
Nolan Mix capped the Woodsmen’s offensive fireworks display with his team-leading 12th of
the season three minutes later.
Mix chipped in four assists to go with his third-period goal, while Greene, Joshua Kauppinen,
Maxim Lazo, and Charles Murray all collected a pair of helpers. Andrew Peterson, making his
first start between the pipes for the Woodsmen, finished with 21 saves.
The Woodsmen (10-4-1-1) will put their six-game winning streak on the line next weekend,
when they host the Rochester Grizzlies for a pair of NA3HL games at the Tomah Ice Center.
Puck drop on both Friday and Saturday nights is is slated for 7:15 p.m.
