PEORIA, Ill. — Coming off a 6-2 victory over the Peoria Mustangs Friday evening the Wisconsin
Woodsmen picked up right where they left off in the teams’ rematch Saturday.
Wisconsin found the back of the net six more times on Saturday — including three in the first
period — as the Woodsmen completed their NA3HL sweep with a 6-3 victory at Owen Center.
The Woodsmen appeared to have things well under control after the game’s first 20 minutes,
thanks to goals by Jack Dahl, Tristan Pownall, and Ty Paulios that gave Wisconsin a commanding
3-0 advantage.
That advantage dwindled to just one, 3-2, after goals by Peoria’s Brendon Miller and Cody in
the first 2:05 of the middle frame, but Colton Holzer upped the lead back to two with his
second of the season with five minutes to play.
Ozbej Muzan and Holzer increased the Woodsmen’s lead to four, 6-2 with back-to-back goals in
less than three minutes to open the third period. Miller netted Peoria’s third goal of the game
with 3:37 to play, but that would be as close as the Mustangs would get.
Parker Holloway collected three assists for the Woodsmen, while Alex Rivolta picked up his
second win in as many nights in goal for Wisconsin, stopping 35 of the 38 shots he faced.
The Woodsmen (17-22-2-2) are now off until Feb. 27-28, when they head to Affton, Mo., for a
pair of NA3HL games against the St. Louis Jr. Blues.
