WOODSMEN CLOSE OUT REGULAR-SEASON SCHEDULE WITH 3-2 WIN

Mar 9, 2025

ROCHESTER, Minn. — With the post-season just a week away, the Wisconsin Woodsmen had
their sights set on closing out the regular season on a high note Saturday evening.

Mission accomplished.

The Woodsmen, behind the stellar goaltending of Lleyton Jaschke, held off a furious Rochester
third-period charge to beat the Grizzlies 3-2 in an NA3HL matchup at the Rochester Rec Center.

In the game’s opening 20 minutes, the Woodsmen’s quality outshined the Grizzlies’ quantity to
grab a 2-1 lead.

Wisconsin managed just seven first-period shots, but got goals from Maxim Lazo and Daniel
Svozil, while the Grizzlies managed to put just one of their 18 first-period shots past Jaschke

Despite holding a 13-8 edge in shots on goal in the second period, the Grizzlies were unable to
net the equalizer in the middle frame, while the Woodsmen once again made the most of their
offensive opportunities, using Lazo’s second of the game just 2:35 into the period to extend the
lead to 3-1.

The Grizzlies threw everything they had a Jaschke over the final 20 minutes — boasting a 15-5
advantage in shots on goal — but could only muster a Ben Parent tally with 6:21 remaining in
regulation.

Nolan Mix picked up assists on two of the Woodsmen’s three goals, while Tristen May-Robinson
and Svozil also collected helpers. Jaschke finished with 44 saves, while Rochester goalie Andrew
Dubin kicked out 17 of Wisconsin’s 20 shots on goal.

The Woodsmen, who finished the regular season with a 23-16-4-3 record — good for 53 points
and a four-place finish in the Central Division — will open up Fraser Cup play next weekend,
with their opponent and locations yet to be determined.
