WOODSMEN SCOUTING REPORT:
• FOR THE RECORD: The Woodsmen head into their weekend games against Peoria sitting at 6-
4-1-1 overall and are currently in third place in the Central Division standings, one point behind
second-place Rochester six back of league-leading Wausau.
• LAST TIME OUT: Wisconsin erupted for a combined 18 goals in picking up a pair of NA3HL road
wins over the Peoria Mustangs last weekend. The Woodsmen netted a then-season-high eight
goals in dropping the Mustangs 8-1 last Friday, before improving that season-high total by two
with a 10-7 victory in the rematch the following evening.
• HOME SWEET HOME: With this two games at Peoria last weekend, the Woodsmen return
home after playing three of four contests on the road. … Beginning with their two game against
the Grizzlies, Wisconsin plays six consecutive games on its home ice, also hosting the St. Louis Jr.
Blues for two games on Nov. 1-2, and welcoming the Grizzlies back for two more on Nov. 8-9. …
Wisconsin is sitting at 4-1-0-1 on the road, while going 2-3-1-0 at the Tomah Ice Center.
• TURNING UP THE HEAT: The Woodsmen erupted for 18 goals in their two-game sweep of
Peoria last weekend. The eight goals scored in last Friday’s 8-1 win were the most Wisconsin had
scored all season, only to be two-upped with the Woodsmen’s 10-goal eruption in their 10-7 win
the following evening. … The Woodsmen’s 10 goals last Saturday were the most since netting a
franchise-record 14 against the Minnesota Loons on Jan. 26, 2024.
• RIGHT ON TARGET: The Woodsmen finished with a season-high 67 shots on goal against
Peoria last Saturday — including 20 in the first period and 29 in their six-goal second period. …
Wisconsin’s 67 shots on goal were the third-most in franchise history and just two shy of the
program record of 69, set against the Minnesota Loons on Jan. 27, 2024.
• WHITE-KNUCKLE RIDE: Six of the Woodsmen’s first 10 games this season were decided by one
goal — including three that have gone into overtime, and one decided by a shootout.
• FRANCHISE FIRST: After going 0-9-0-1 in its 10 meetings against Wausau last season, the
Woodsmen picked up their first-ever win against the Cyclones with a 3-2 victory on Sept. 20.
• FRANCHISE FIRST II: This weekend’s two games against Rochester mark the first-ever meeting
between the Woodsmen and the Grizzlies.
• LIGHTING THE LAMP: Nolan Mix and Joshua Kauppinen share the team lead with nine goals
each, three more than Hugh Deinema, who is sitting third with six tallies. Tyler Osborne and
Tristen May-Robinson have each lit the lamp four times, while Brandon Slasor, Charles Murray,
and Daniel Svozil all boast three goals. … Deinema closed out the 2023-24 season as the
Woodsmen’s leading goal scorer with 29 goals in 44 games.
• DOUBLING UP: Kauppinen and Mix both scored two goals in each of the Woodsmen’s games
last weekend against Peoria. It was the third multiple-goal game of the season for Mix. …
Murray has also had a two-goal game this season, scoring twice against West Bend on Oct. 5.
• STREAK-SNAPPER: Kauppinen had his season-opening four-game goal-scoring streak snapped
in Wisconsin’s 6-5 overtime loss to Granite City on Sept. 27. … Deinema netted a goal in each of
Wisconsin’s first three games.
• LENDING A HELPING HAND: Deinema collected six assists against Peoria over the weekend,
extending his team-lead to 13. Mix and Viktor Budik are second on the squad with seven
helpers, followed by May-Robinson with six, and Johnny Thrasher and Murray with five apiece.
… Budik led the Woodsmen with 30 assists a year ago, four more than Nicholas O’Brien.
• POINT PRODUCERS: With his six goals and 13 assists, Deinema sits atop the team’s points
race with 19. He is one of four Woodsmen with 10+ points already this season, being joined by
Mix (9 G, 7 A, 16 Pts), Kauppinen (9 G, 4 A, 13 Pts), and May-Robinson (4 G, 6 A, 10 Pts). …
Wisconsin closed out the 2023-24 season with two players boasting 40+ points — Deinema with
49 (29 G, 20 A) and Hunter Nelson with 46 (23 G, 23 A).
• BETWEEN THE PIPES: Steven Kelley heads into this weekend’s matchups against Rochester
sporting a 2.76 goals-against-average and a .915 save percentage. Lleyton Jaschke boasts a 5.23
GAA and an .852 save % and Otto Reinhart owns a 3.66 GAA and .875 save %.
• SPECIAL TEAMS: After managing just one power-play goal in their first six contests, the
Woodsmen have collected nine PP goals in its last six games. Wisconsin is now 10-for-46 on the
power play (21.7 %). On the flip side, Wisconsin has allowed 12 power-play goals in its
opponents’ 52 PP chances.
