ROCHESTER, Minn. — When it comes to Friday evening games, the Wisconsin Woodmen seem
to prefer keeping their fans on the edge of their seats.
For the third straight Friday night, the Woodsmen found themselves in the midst of a one-goal
outcome, this time getting a Brandon Slasor goal 1:52 into overtime to give Wisconsin a 4-3
NA3HL triumph over the Rochester Grizzlies at the Rochester Rec Center.
After scoreless first period, the Woodsmen — coming off a 3-2 shootout win over the Peoria
Mustangs and a 2-1 loss to the Minnesota Moose in their last two Friday night games — opened
the scoring with back-to-back goals by Brodie Mich and Ty Paulios in the middle frame to give
Wisconsin a 2-0 lead with 20 minutes to play in regulation.
Josh Kauppinen pushed the Woodsmen advantage to 3-0 on a goal by Josh Kauppinen just 56
seconds into the third period.
The Grizzlies, however, answered with three consecutive goals — two by Mason Decker and the
game-tying tally by Ole Fevold with 5:45 to play to send the game into overtime.
And set up Slasor’s overtime heroics.
