TOMAH, Wis. — The Wisconsin Woodsmen entered the weekend in a three-way tie for first
place in the NA3HL Central Division standings with the Rochester Grizzlies and West Bend
Power — the Woodsmen’s two opponents for the weekend.
Wisconsin took care of business against the Grizzlies on Saturday, picking up a 5-3 victory
— thanks in part to a pair of goals by Parker Holloway and two late empty-net goals.
The Woodsmen’s bid for a weekend sweep, however, would not be in the cards, as the visiting
Power dealt up a dominant offense performance, scoring two goals in both the first two periods
and adding a four-goal third in dealing Wisconsin an 8-0 setback at the Tomah Ice Center.
West Bend wasted little time flexing its offensive muscles, getting a goal by Cole Craft less than
five minutes into the opening period, while Blake Kohnen added his fourth of the season 10
minutes later to give the Power a 2-0 advantage heading into the first intermission.
Adam Sexton gave the Power a 4-0 lead after two periods, scoring a power-play goal at 2:48
and added his second of the game — and period — with 50 seconds to play.
West Bend equaled its output of the first two periods in the third, getting two goals from
Kinnick Kehoe, and solo tallies by Zachary Halling and Shaun Paulson to round out the scoring.
Nicholas Foy and Nicklas Timm both saw time between the pipes for the Woodsmen, with
Timm stopping 16 shots in 48:12, while Foy chipped in 11 saves in 11:48. Jacob Iallonardo
picked up the shutout in goal for West Bend, kicking out all 20 Wisconsin shots.
The Woodsmen (8-4-1-1 overall) are back in action with a single game next weekend, hosting
the Fox Citiies Forge in a 7:15 p.m. NA3HL showdown Friday at the Tomah Ice Center.
