KETTLE MORAINE, Wis. — The Wisconsin Woodsmen matched the West Bend Power goal-for-
goal in the first and third periods Saturday evening — with both teams scoring once in the first
period and twice in the third.
The second period, however, belonged to the Power.
West Bend erupted for five goals in the first 13 minutes of the middle frame — including two
off the stick of Shaun Paulson — as the Power avenged a 6-4 loss to the Woodsmen Friday
evening with an 8-3 NA3HL victory at the Kettle Moraine Ice Center.
Tristan Pownall got the Woodsmen on the board first, scoring his first of the season eight
minutes into the opening period, only to have West Bend answer four minutes later as the two
teams headed into the first intermission deadlocked at 1-1.
West Bend took complete control with its five-goal second period.
Paulson sandwiched a pair of goals around a tally by Cole Craft to give Power a 4-1 lead, and
Andrew Sparacino and Austin Westergaard also found the back to the net to extend West
Bend’s lead to 6-1 with 20 minutes to play.
Jacob Kolker netted Wisconsin’s second goal 16 seconds into the third period, only to have
Jackson Hoem and Jace Fitzgerald score for West Bend to make it an 8-2 game. Kolker rounded
out the scoring with an unassisted tally with 4:15 to play.
Lleyton Jaschke and Logan Blahnik shared the goaltending duties for the Woodsmen, with
Jaschke posting 27 saves, while Blahnik added 28 stops in relief. West Bend held a commanding
55-18 advantage in shots on goal.
The Woodsmen (2-6-0-0) are back in action — and back on the road — next weekend, heading
to the Affton Ice Arena in Affton, Mo., for a pair of NA3HL matchups against the St. Louis Jr.
Blues. Opening face-off in Friday’s opener is set for 7:50 p.m., with a 6 p.m. puck drop for the
Saturday rematch.
