TOMAH, Wis. — The Wisconsin Woodsmen took the ice Friday night riding an impressive tgwo-
game winning streak — having outscored the Peoria Mustangs by a combined 13-0 in an NA3HL
sweep last weekend.
The Woodsmen’s stingy defense was back on display against the St. Louis Jr. Blues, limiting the
visitors to just a lone second-period goal, while their high-octane offense was limited to just
two goals.
Thanks to Ty Paulios’s overtime heroics, however, two goals was enough, as the Woodsmen
extended their win streak to three with a 2-1 win at the Tomah Ice Center.
After a scoreless first period, it appeared as if the two teams would repeat that scoreless frame
in the second, only to have both teams strike in the final 3:18. The Jr. Blues struck first on a goal
by Lonnie Land with just over three minutes to play, with the Woodsmen knotting things up less
than two minutes later when Brandon Slasor found the back of the net for his seventh of the
season.
Neither team would light the lamp in the third — despite Wisconsin holding a 12-7 edge in
shots on goal — setting up Paulios’s overtime heroics.
