The Wisconsin Woodsmen are back in action this weekend for a home-and-home NA3HL series against the Wisconsin Power. The two teams will take the ice at 7:15 p.m. at the Tomah Ice Center on Friday, before the scene switches to the Kettle Moraine Ice Center in Kettle Moraine, Wis., for Saturday’s 7:15 p.m. rematch.

WOODSMEN SCOUTING REPORT:

  • FOR THE RECORD: The Woodsmen head into their NA3HL weekend series against the West Bend Power sporting a 1-5-0-0 record. … Wisconsin closed out the 2024-25 season with a 24-16-6-3 record, good for fourth place in the NA3HL Central Division standings.
  • LAST TIME OUT: Wisconsin dropped both of its NA3HL road games against the Granite City Lumberjacks in Sauk Rapids, Minn., last weekend. Granite City opened the weekend series with a 4-2 win last Friday, before riding a three-goal first period to a 6-1 win in the rematch the following evening.
  • HOME COOKING: Wisconsin is 1-2-0-0 on its home ice this season, while dropping all three of its road contests of the year. The Woodsmen finished 11-8-3-3 at the Tomah Ice Center a year ago, while going 11-8-3-3 on the road.
  • SPREADING THE WEALTH:The Woodsmen — whose seven combined goals in its season-opening split against the Rochester Grizzlies on Sept. 12-13 came from seven different players — have already had 13 players find the back of the net this season. … Maxim Lazo scored his team-leading third goal of the season against the Granite City Lumberjacks last weekend. Lazo’s three goals are one in front of Ty Paulios, Brodie Micah, and Tyler Osborne. Brandon Slasor, Josh Kauppinen, Cole Schrieber, Tristan Pownall, Micah Siben, Ethan Foles, Parker Holloway, Ozbej Muzan, and Tegan O’Brien have also found the back of the net this season.
  • FRANCHISE BEST: Lazo equaled the franchise record by scoring four goals against the Mason City Toros last season. Nolan Mix originally had set the program record, scoring four goals against the Minnesota Loons on Jan. 26, 2024.
  • FRANCHISE BEST II: Hugh Deinema and Patrick Bowser each scored three goals in Wisconsin’s 8-0 win over Peoria on Dec. 28, 2024, marking the first time in franchise history the Woodsmen had two players scored hat tricks in the same game.
  • TOSSING THE HAT: The Woodsmen had a player record three or more goals in a game five times last season. Lazo owned three- and four-goal games, while Deinema, Bowser, and Brandon Laso had Wisconsin’s other three-goal games.
  • TURNING UP THE HEAT: The Woodsmen have scored six goals in two of their six games this season, and have netted six or more goals in a game 12 times over the last two seasons. … Wisconsin erupted for 18 goals in their two-game sweep of the Peoria Mustangs on Oct. 18-19, 2024. The eight goals scored in their 8-1 win on Oct. 18 were the most Wisconsin had scored all season a year ago, only to be two-upped with the Woodsmen’s 10-goal eruption in their 10-7 win the following evening. … The Woodsmen’s 10 goals against Peoria on Oct. 19, 2024 were the most since netting a franchise-record 14 against the Minnesota Loons on Jan. 26, 2024..
  • LENDING A HELPING HAND: Slasor leads the Woodsmen in assists with four, one more than Lazo, Kauppinen, and Easton Armstrong. Paulios, Schrieber, and Bryce Bechen have all chipped in two helpers. … Viktor Budik amassed a team-leading and single-season franchise-record 40 assists last season. … Nolan Mix picked up four assists in Wisconsin’s 8-2 win over St. Louis on Nov. 2, 2024, one shy of the single-game franchise record of five, set by Hunter Nelson against the Minnesota Loons on Jan. 26, 2024.
  • POINT PRODUCERS: Lazo (3 G, 3 A) sits atop the heap in the Woodsmen points race with six, one up on Slasor (1 G, 4 A). Kauppinen (1 G, 3 A) and Paulios (2 G, 2 A) are tied for third with four points, with Armstrong (0 G, 3 A), Micah (2 G, 1A), Osborne (2 G, 1 A), and Schrieber (1 G, 2 A) all boasting three points. … Hugh Deinema closed out the 2024-25 season as the team-leader with a franchise record 62 points (27 G, 35 A).
  • BETWEEN THE PIPES: Lleyton Jaschke has started four of the Woodsmen’s six games in goal, compiling a 3.30 goals-against-average and a .922 save percentage. … Jaschke has stopped 167 of the 180 shots he’s faced in four games. … Aidan Vanderweele made his first career start as a Woodsmen against the Wausau Cyclones on Sept. 20, stopping 46 of the Cyclones’ 53 shots, while Logan Blahnik made his first Woodsmen appearance in a 30-save showing in last Saturday’s 6-1 loss to the Granite City Lumberjacks. … Jaschke closed out the 2024-25 season recording 511 saves in 21 appearances, second to Steven Kelley’s team-leading 738 saves in 25 appearances.
  • STREAK-SNAPPER I: With their 5-2 loss to the Rochester Grizzlies on Nov. 8, 2024, the Woodsmen had their franchise-record six-game winning streak snapped.
  • WHITE-KNUCKLE RIDE: With their 7-6 loss to the Wausau Cyclones on Sept. 19, the Woodsmen have now played 21 games over the last two seasons decided by one goal — including 11 that went into overtime and three decided in a shootout.

  • LAST TIME OUT: West Bend picked up a pair of road victories last weekend, dropping the Wausau Cyclones 5-1 and 7-4 at Marathon Park in Wausau, Wis.
  • ROAD WARRIORS: The Power have played just two of their first six games on their home ice. West Bend is 2-0-0-0 at home, while going 3-1-0-0 away from the Kettle Moraine Ice Arena … West Bend is in the midst of playing 10 of 11 games on the road, the lone exception, Saturday’s home rematch with the Wisconsin Woodsmen. 
  • LIGHTING THE LAMP: Jace Fitzgerald heads into the weekend series against the Wisconsin Woodsmen owning a team-leading nine goals. Brody Josselyn is second on the team with five goals, followed by Andrew Sparcino, Tristan Hearley, Andrew Burny, and Cole Craft with two goals each. … Fitzgerald, who split time between the Power, Wisconsin Windigo, and the Minnesota Mallards last season, finished with 12 goals in 2024-25.
  • LENDING A HELPING HAND: Danny Jurcich is the team-leader in assists with nine, four up on Quinn O’Connor, while Blake Kohnen is third with four helpers. Fitzgerald, Joselyn, and Andrew Sparacino are all sitting fourth on the team with three assists each. 
  • POINT PRODUCERS: Fueled by his nine goals and three assists, Fitzgerald sits atop the team lead in points with 12. Jurcich (0 G, 9 A) is second with nine points, one up on Josselyn (4 G, 5 A). O’Connor (1 G, 5 A) is fourth with six points, followed by Sparacino (2 G, 3 A) with five and Tristen Hurley (2 G, 2 A) with four.
  • BETWEEN THE PIPES: Ben Glaesman has started four of the Power’s six games in goal, compiling a 2.25 goals-against-average and a .908 save percentage. Peter Burke and Ben Knutson have each made one start between the pipes — Burke boasting a 3.00 GAA and .885 save percentage and Knutson adding a 6.00 GAA and .840 save %.
