The Wisconsin Woodsmen return home this weekend for a pair of NA3HL games against the Peoria Mustangs. The Woodsmen and Mustangs will drop the puck at 7:15 p.m. on Friday at the Tomah Ice Center, with Saturday’s rematch also slated for a 7:15 p.m. opening face-off.

  • FOR THE RECORD: The Woodsmen head into their weekend games against the Peoria Mustangs sporting a 12-22-2-1 record, good for 27 points and a fifth-place showing in the NA3HL Central Division standings. … Wisconsin closed out the 2024-25 season with a 24-16-6-3 record, good for fifth place in the NA3HL Central Division standings.
  • LAST TIME OUT: The Woodsmen dropped both of their road games against the Wausau Cyclones last weekend at Marathon Park in Wausau, Wis., falling 9-2 in the opener last Friday, before falling 3-2 the following evening.
  • HOME SWEET HOME: After playing five of their last six games on the road, the Woodsmen kick off a four-game homestand with this weekend’s two games against the Peoria Mustangs. Wisconsin will host the St. Louis Jr. Blues for a pair of NA3HL games next weekend, before hitting the road for five of their final six regular-season games. … Wisconsin has collected seven of its 12 wins this season on its home ice, going 7-10-0-1 at the Tomah Ice Center, while owning a 5-12-2-0 mark on the road this year. … The Woodsmen finished 11-8-3-3 at the Tomah Ice Center a year ago, while going 11-8-3-3 on the road.
  • STREAKING: Thanks to their 13-0 win over the Pelham Prowlers, 5-1 victory vs. the Maine Nordiques, and a 7-0 triumph against the Bozeman Nordiques, the Woodsmen have now put together three consecutive wins three times this season. … The Woodsmen’s two losses last weekend to the Wausau Cyclones pushed their current losing streak to six. … With their 3-2 win over the Peoria Mustangs on Nov. 7, the Woodsmen put an end to a franchise-high nine-game losing streak.
  • WHITE-KNUCKLE RIDE: The Woodsmen’s 3-2 loss to the Wausau Cyclones on Jan. 24 was the 10th game this season decided by one goal. Wisconsin has now played 30 games over the last two seasons that have been decided by one goal — including 16 that went into overtime and four decided in a shootout. … Wisconsin’s 2-1 loss to the Minnesota Moose on Nov. 15 was their first game this season decided by a shootout.
  • TURNING UP THE HEAT: The Woodsmen erupted for a season-high 13 goals in routing the Pelham Power on Dec. 14. The 13 goals were one shy of the single-game franchise record of 14, set in a 14-0 whitewashing of the Minnesota Loons on Jan. 26, 2024. 
  • TURNING UP THE HEAT II: Wisconsin peppered the Peoria Mustangs’ net with 64 shots in its 9-1 win over the Mustangs on Nov. 8. The 64 shots on goal were a season-high, and the most since recording 67 shots against Peoria on Oct. 19, 2024.
  • TURNING UP THE HEAT III: The Woodsmen have scored six or more goals in a game seven times this season, and have netted 6+ goals in a game 17 times over the last two seasons.
  • COMING UP EMPTY: The Woodsmen’s 4-0 loss to the Wausau Cyclones on Oct. 24 marked the first time this season they were held without a goal. The last time Wisconsin had been shut out came in a 3-0 loss to the Minnesota Moose on Dec. 6, 2024.
  • LIGHTING THE LAMP: Ty Paulios heads into the weekend as the team’s goal-scoring leader with 17, one more than Nolan Mix. The pair are two of four Woodsmen who have netted at least 10 goals this season, being joined by Parker Holloway, who has 11 goals, and Tyler Osborne, who has lit the lamp 10 times. … Josh Kauppinen is just two goals shy of joining the 10-goal club.
  • SPREADING THE WEALTH:The Woodsmen — whose seven combined goals in its season-opening split against the Rochester Grizzlies on Sept. 12-13 came from seven different players — have had 17 players light the lamp this season.
  • FRANCHISE BEST: Lazo’s four goals in Wisconsin’s 6-4 win over the West Bend Power on Oct. 3 matched his single-game career high, and equaled the franchise single-game record. … Lazo has now scored four goals in a game twice, having also achieved the feat against the Mason City Toros last season. … Nolan Mix originally had set the program record, scoring four goals against the Minnesota Loons on Jan. 26, 2024.
  • TOSSING THE HAT: Paulios’s hat trick against the Rochester Grizzlies on Nov. 22 was his second of the season, having also netted three goals against the Peoria Mustangs on Nov. 7. … Wisconsin has now had a player record three or more goals in a game eight times over the last two seasons. 
  • LENDING A HELPING HAND: Mix and Mix are the team-leaders in assists with 21. They are two of eight Woodsmen who have eclipsed the 10-assist mark. Kauppinen is third on the team with 19 helpers, followed by Mich with 18, Brandon Slasor with 16, Osborne with 15, Bryce Bechen with 13, and Holloway with 10. … Osborne picked up four assists in the Woodsmen’s 7-0 win over the Bozeman Icedogs on Dec. 16, one shy of the single-game franchise record of five, set by Hunter Nelson against the Minnesota Loons on Jan. 26, 2024.
  • POINT PRODUCERS: Wisconsin boasts seven players who have accumulated 20 or more points this season, led by Paulios with 38 (17 G, 21 A) and Mix with 37 (16 G, 21 A). Kauppinen is third on the team with 27 points (8 G, 19 A), while Osborne (10 G, 15 A, 25 Pts), Mich (4 G, 18 A, 22 Pts), Slasor (6 G, 16 A, 22 Pts), and Holloway (11 G, 10 A, 21 Pts) are also members of the 20-point club.
  • BETWEEN THE PIPES: Lleyton Jaschke has appeared in 25 of the Woodsmen’s 38 games in goal (1304:00), compiling a 4.69 goals-against-average and an .875 save percentage. … Jaschke has stopped a team-leading 817 shots. … Alex Rivolta — who picked up his first and second shutouts as a Woodsmen with a six-save effort against the Pelham Prowlers on Dec. 14 and a 27-save showing against the Bozeman Icedogs two days later — boasts a team-best 2.63 GAA and .917 save percentage in 11 appearances (523:00), while Logan Blahnik has played in five games (217:00), boating a 5.25 GAA and .850 save % and Aidan Vanderweele owns a 7.60 GAA and .818 save % in three appearances (142:00). … Jaschke closed out the 2024-25 season recording 511 saves in 21 appearances, second to Steven Kelley’s team-leading 738 saves in 25 appearances.
  • PROGRAM FIRSTS: The Woodsmen’s games against the Pelham Prowlers, Maine Nordiques, and Bozeman Icedogs at the NA3HL Showcase on Dec. 14-16 were the first meetings in program history.

MUSTANGS SCOUTING REPORT

  • FOR THE RECORD: The Peoria Mustangs enter their weekend series against the Wisconsin Woodsmen owning an 7-26-2-0 record, leaving them sitting sixth in the Central Division standings with 16 points.
  • LAST TIME OUT: Peoria came up empty in its two-game home series against league-leading West Bend Power last weekend, being outscored 15-0. The Power handed the Mustangs a 7-0 setback last Friday, before doing that one goal better the following evening, posting an 8-0 victory.
  • HITTING THE ROAD: After playing six consecutive games on their home ice, the Mustangs close out the month of January with back-to-back road games against the Wisconsin Woodsmen. The two games against the Woodsmen are the first of four straight road games for Peoria, which closes out the month of February with six consecutive home contests. … The Mustangs are 4-10-1-0 on their home ice, while sporting a 3-14-1-0 record away from the Owen Center in Peoria, Ill.
  • 0-FOR-JANUARY: The Mustangs are still searching for their first win in the month of January, having dropped all six of their games this s=month. Peoria opened the month with 7-2, 4-2 losses to the Wausau Cyclones, before following that up with back-to-back setbacks against the St. Louis Jr. Blues (6-3, 6-3) and two losses to the West Bend Power (7-0, 8-0). 
  • LIGHTING THE LAMP: The Mustangs enter the weekend boasting five players who have scored 10 or more goals through 35 games this season, led by Brendon Miller with 20. Owen Gruden is one goal back of Miller, while Wyatt Duke (16), Breyon Maroney (13), and Nathan Pleva (11) have also scored 10+ goals. Jordan Mini is one goal shy of the 10-goal mark, and is the only other player who has scored more than two goals this season.
  • LENDING A HELPING HAND: Miller has amassed a team-best 23 assists, while Gruden has also surpassed the 20-assist mark, sitting second with 21. Duke and Pleva are tied for third with 19 helpers each, with Maroney (13) and Mini (11) also owning double-digit assist totals.
  • POINT PRODUCERS: With 20 goals and 23 assists, Miller sits atop the team lead in points with 43, with Gruden (19 G, 21 A, 40 Pts) close on his heels. Duke (16 G, 19 A, 35 Pts) and Pleva (11 G, 19 A, 30 Pts) have both reached 30 points, with Maroney (13 G, 13 A, 26 Pts) and Mini (9 G, 11 A, 20 Pts) owning at least 20 points.
  • BETWEEN THE PIPES: Peoria has used four different goalies this season, led by Jakub Stary and Charlie Maquet. Stary has appeared in 17 games (882:00), owning a 5.37 goals-against-average and .883 save percentage, while Maquet has played in 16 games (830:00) and sports a 5.85 GAA and .858 save %.
