After three games at the NA3HL Showcase, the Wisconsin Woodsmen are right back in action this weekend with a pair of home games against the Wausau Cyclones. The Woodsmen and Cyclones will square off at 7:15 p.m. at the Tomah Ice Center on Friday, with Saturday’s rematch also slated for 7:15 p.m.

  • FOR THE RECORD: The Woodsmen head into their weekend series against the Wausau Cyclones sporting a 11-15-2-1 record. … Wisconsin closed out the 2024-25 season with a 24-16-6-3 record, good for fifth place in the NA3HL Central Division standings.
  • LAST TIME OUT: The Woodsmen were a perfect 3-0 in its three games at the NA3HL Showcase in Blaine, Minn., beating the Pelham Prowlers (13-0), Maine Nordiques (5-1), and Bozeman Nordiques (7-0).
  • PROGRAM FIRSTS: The Woodsmen’s games against the Pelham Prowlers, Maine Nordiques, and Bozeman Icedogs at the NA3HL Showcase on Dec. 14-16 were the first meetings in program history.
  • ROAD WARRIORS: The Woodsmen are in the midst of playing seven of eight games on the road, the lone exception, a 3-2 overtime win over league-leading West Bend Power on Dec. 5. … Wisconsin has collected five of its eight wins this season on its home ice, going 6-8-0-1 at the Tomah Ice Center, while owning a 5-7-2-0 mark on the road this year. … The Woodsmen finished 11-8-3-3 at the Tomah Ice Center a year ago, while going 11-8-3-3 on the road.
  • STREAKING: Thanks to their 13-0 win over the Pelham Prowlers, 5-1 victory vs. the Maine Nordiques, and a 7-0 triumph against the Bozeman Nordiques, the Woodsmen head into the weekend series against the Wausau Cyclones riding a three-game winning streak. … Wisconsin has now put together three consecutive wins three times this season. … With their 3-2 win over the Peoria Mustangs on Nov. 7, the Woodsmen put an end to a franchise-high nine-game losing streak.
  • WHITE-KNUCKLE RIDE: The Woodsmen’s 3-2 overtime win over the West Bend Power on Dec. 5 was the ninth game this season decided by one goal. Wisconsin has now played 29 games over the last two seasons that have been decided by one goal — including 16 that went into overtime and four decided in a shootout. … Wisconsin’s 2-1 loss to the Minnesota Moose on Nov. 15 was their first game this season decided by a shootout.
  • TURNING UP THE HEAT: The Woodsmen erupted for a season-high 13 goals in routing the Pelham Power on Dec. 14. The 13 goals were one shy of the single-game franchise record of 14, set in a 14-0 whitewashing of the Minnesota Loons on Jan. 26, 2024. 
  • TURNING UP THE HEAT II: Wisconsin peppered the Peoria Mustangs’ net with 64 shots in its 9-1 win over the Mustangs on Nov. 8. The 64 shots on goal were a season-high, and the most since recording 67 shots against Peoria on Oct. 19, 2024.
  • TURNING UP THE HEAT III: The Woodsmen have scored six or more goals in a game six times this season, and have netted 6+ goals in a game 16 times over the last two seasons.
  • COMING UP EMPTY: The Woodsmen’s 4-0 loss to the Wausau Cyclones on Oct. 24 marked the first time this season they were held without a goal. The last time Wisconsin, which has scored 80 goals in 26 games, had been shut out came in a 3-0 loss to the Minnesota Moose on Dec. 6, 2025.
  • LIGHTING THE LAMP: Maxim Lazo heads into the weekend leading the Woodsmen in goals with 15, one more than Ty Paulios and three in front of Nolan Mix. Josh Kauppinen is fourth on the squad with eight goals, followed by Tyler Osborne with seven, and Brandon Slasor and Parker Holloway with six each.
  • SPREADING THE WEALTH:The Woodsmen — whose seven combined goals in its season-opening split against the Rochester Grizzlies on Sept. 12-13 came from seven different players — have had 22 players light the lamp this season.
  • FRANCHISE BEST: Lazo’s four goals in Wisconsin’s 6-4 win over the West Bend Power on Oct. 3 matched his single-game career high, and equaled the franchise single-game record. … Lazo has now scored four goals in a game twice, having also achieved the feat against the Mason City Toros last season. … Nolan Mix originally had set the program record, scoring four goals against the Minnesota Loons on Jan. 26, 2024.
  • TOSSING THE HAT: Paulios’s hat trick against the Rochester Grizzlies on Nov. 22 was his second of the season, having also netted three goals against the Peoria Mustangs on Nov. 7. … Wisconsin has now had a player record three or more goals in a game eight times over the last two seasons. 
  • LENDING A HELPING HAND: Paulios and Mix share the team lead in assists with 18. They are two of eight Woodsmen who have reached double figures in assists, being joined by Lazo (16), Slasor (14), Kauppinen (13), Osborne (13), Brodie Mich (13), and Bryce Bechen (11). Patrick Bowser is two helpers shy of joining the double-digit club. … Osborne picked up four assists in the Woodsmen’s 7-0 win over the Bozeman Icedogs on Dec. 16, one shy of the single-game franchise record of five, set by Hunter Nelson against the Minnesota Loons on Jan. 26, 2024.
  • POINT PRODUCERS: Wisconsin boasts six players who have accumulated 20 or more points this season, led by Paulios with 32 (14 G, 18 A) and Lazo with 31 (15 G, 16 A). Mix (12 G, 18 A) has also reached the 30-point plateau, while Kauppinen (8 G, 13 A, 21 Pts), Osborne (7 G, 13 A, 20 Pts), and Slasor (6 G, 14 A, 20 Pts) own 20+ points. 
  • BETWEEN THE PIPES: Lleyton Jaschke has appeared in 20 of the Woodsmen’s 29 games in goal (1095:00), compiling a 4.27 goals-against-average and an .887 save percentage. … Jaschke has stopped 689 of the 767 shots he’s faced. … Alex Rivolta — who picked up his first and second shutouts as a Woodsmen with a six-save effort against the Pelham Prowlers on Dec. 14 and a 27-save showing against the Bozeman Icedogs two days later — boasts a 11 GAA and .926 save percentage in seven appearances (340:00), while Logan Blahnik has played in five games (217:00), boating a 5.25 GAA and .850 save % and Aidan Vanderweele owns an 8.18 GAA and .818 save % in two appearances (88:00). … Jaschke closed out the 2024-25 season recording 511 saves in 21 appearances, second to Steven Kelley’s team-leading 738 saves in 25 appearances.

CYCLONES SCOUTING REPORT:

  • FOR THE RECORD: The Cyclones head into their weekend road series at the Wisconsin Woodsmen boasting a 14-10-0-0 overall record, good for fourth place in the NA3HL Central Division standings, just three points in front of the Woodsmen.
  • LAST TIME OUT: Wausau finished 2-1 in its three games at the NA3HL Showcase last weekend, beating the Buzz (6-0) and Badlands Sabres (4-2), before falling to the Alexandria Blizzards 3-1.
  • ROAD WARRIORS: December has been one long road trip for the Cyclones, who will play seven of their nine games this month on the road. Wausau is currently 9-6-0-0 on the road, while sporting a 5-4-0-0 record on their home sheet at Marathon Park.
  • LIGHTING THE LAMP: Jackson Schroeder enters the Cyclones’ weekend series against the Wisconsin Woodsmen boasting a team-high 16 goals. He is one of three Wausau players who have netted 10 or more goals this season, being joined by Brady Knutsen (13) and Eljl Hofmann (10). Elijah Gunten is fourth on the team with seven goals, followed by Joel Anderson and Brandon Piwko with six, and Zachary Pagel with five. … Wausau has gotten goal scoring from 20 different players this season.
  • LENDING A HELPING HAND: Along with his 16 goals, Schroeder has also amassed a team-leading 22 assists, three more than Anderson. The duo are joined by Hofmann (15), Knutsen (12), and Maksim Salienko (10) as the five Cyclones who are reached double figures in assists. Sean Hall is just two helpers shy of joining the double-digit club, while Mario Savino is three helpers short.
  • POINT PRODUCERS: With his team-leading 16 goals and 22 points, Schroeder completes the offensive trifecta, leading the team with 38 points. Anderson (6 G, 19 A) and Hofmann (10 G, 15 A) are a distant second with 25 points each, followed by Gunten (7 G, 6 A, 13 pts), Salienko (2 G, 10 A, 12 Pts), Hall (2 G, 8 A, 10 Pts), and Jackson Maddock (4 G, 6 A, 10 Pts).
  • BETWEEN THE PIPES: Wausau has used three different goalies this season, led by Brady Faille, who has appeared in 13 games (681:00), compiling a 2.29 goals-against-average and .926 save percentage, while leading the goaltending corps with 349 saves. Tanner Bonjernoor has played in 10 games (490:00), boasting a 4.16 GAA and .869 save %, with Brody Kunst owning a 1.86 GAA and .942 save % in six games (258:00).
