KETTLE MORAINE, Minn. — For the second game in a row, the Wisconsin Woodsmen found
themselves on the short end of a 4-2 decision — this time falling to the Granite City
Lumberjacks in an NA3HL showdown at the Miller Buick GMC Rink.
The Woodsmen — coming off a 4-2 loss to the Wausau Cyclones last Saturday — matched the
Lumberjacks goal-for-goal through 20 minutes, getting a game-tying tally from Maxim Lazo late
in the frame to pull Wisconsin even, 1-1, heading into the first intermission.
The second period, however, was all Lumberjacks, as they scored six minutes into the middle
stanza and added another with 58 seconds to play to grab a 3-1 edge with 20 minutes to play.
Brody Micah netted his first as a Woodsmen early in the third to get Wisconsin within one, 3-2,
but Micah Saxon iced the Granite City win with his first of the season with 11:09 to play in
regulation.
Lleyton Jaschke was busy between the pipes for the Woodsmen, kicking out 46 of Granite City’s
50 shots on goal, while Lumberjack goalie Jascha Grossenbacher collected 27 saves.
The Woodsmen (1-4-0-0) will get another shot at the Lumberjacks on Saturday, as the two
teams return to the Miller Buick GMC Rink in Kettle Moraine, Minn., for the 7:30 p.m. NA3HL
rematch.
