KETTLE MORAINE, Wis. — The Wisconsin Woodsmen took the ice Saturday evening looking to
do something no team had been able to do this season — beat the West Bend Power twice.
The Power, however, had other ideas.
Coming off a thrilling 3-2 overtime win over the league-leading Power, the Woodsmen were
unable to complete the sweep, as the Power erupted for 11 goals — including seven in the third
period — as West Bend blasted Wisconsin 11-1 at the Kettle Moraine Ice Arena.
West Bend wasted little time taking control in Saturday’s rematch, scoring three times in the
opening period to grab the early 3-0 advantage.
Adam Sexton pushed the Power lead to 4-0 with his fourth of the season 13:31 into the middle
frame.
And the Power were just getting warmed up.
Armani scored West Bend’s fifth goal of the game 1:17 into the third period, and by the time he
netted his second of the frame with 2:36 to play, the Power had lit the lamp seven times.
Josh Kauppinen accounted for the Woodsmen’s lone goal, scoring for the sixth time this season
off assists from Maxim Lazo and Tyler Osborne late in the third stanza.
Lleyton Jaschke finished with 37 saves in 49:55 minutes of action between the pipes for
Wisconsin, while Alex Rivolta made three saves in relief. Sam Ahl, meanwhile, stopped 25 of the
Woodsmen’s 26 shots on goal.
The Woodsmen (8-15-2-1 overall) are now off until Dec. 14-15-16, when they head to the
National Sports Center in Blaine, Minn., to take part in the NA3HL Showcase. The Woodsmen
will face the Pelham Prowlers at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, before taking on the Maine Nordiques at 1 p.m.
on Monday afternoon, and concluding with an 11:45 a.m. matchup against the Bozeman Icedogs.
