TOMAH, Wis. — The last time the Wisconsin Woodsmen square off against the West Bend
Power, the Power escaped with the second of back-to-back overtime wins to oust the
Woodsmen from the Fraser Cup playoffs.
Friday evening, the two teams met for the first time in 2025-26 — with a much more favorable
outcome.
Thanks in large part to the one-two punch of Maxim Lazo ad Jack Dahl.
Lazo scored four goals — matching the single-game franchise record — and Dahl added two, as
the Woodsmen snapped a five-game losing streak in impressive fashion, dropping the Power 6-
4 at the Tomah Ice Center.
West Bend had all the momentum early, scoring a pair of first-period goals to grab a 2-0 lead
after the game’s opening 20 minutes.
Enter Lazo and Dahl.
Lazo scored back-to-back goals in the opening seven minutes of the second period to knot the
game at 2-2. Dahl added his first of the season with eight minutes to play to give Wisconsin its
first lead of the evening, and Lazo netted his third of the game on the power-play with 32
seconds remaining to put the Woodsmen in front, 4-2, heading into the third period.
Dahl kept the Woodsmen offense rolling with his second of the night early in the final frame,
and, after West Bend made things interesting with a pair of goals by Wyatt Emmett to cut the
Wisconsin lead to one, 5-4, Lazo iced the win with goal No. 4 with 20 seconds to play.
While Lazo and Dahl were working their magic on the offensive end, Lleyton Jaschke was doing
his part on the defensive end, kicking out 42 of the Power’s 46 shots on goal — including 19 in
the first period and 18 in the second.
The Woodsmen (2-5-0-0) and Power will go at it again on Saturday, as the two teams head to
the Kettle Moraine Ice Arena in Kettle Moraine, Wis., for the 7:15 p.m. rematch.
