AFFTON, Mo. — For the second time in as many games, the second period proved to be the
undoing for the Wisconsin Woodsmen.
The Woodsmen, who surrendered five goals in the middle frame in an 8-3 loss to the West
Bend Power last Saturday, gave up a pair of goals in the second stanza Friday evening — and it
was those two goals that proved to be the difference, as the St. Lous Jr. Blues dealt Wisconsin a
5-3 NA3HL setback at the Affton Ice Arena.
St. Louis grabbed a 2-1 lead after the game’s opening 20 minutes, sandwiching goals by Chase
Kozma and Caden Lindley around Cole Schreiber’s second goal of the season for the
Woodsmen.
The Jr. Blues extended that lead to 4-1 with back-to-back goals by Jace Jordan and Lonnie Land
in the second period — Land’s goal coming with just 1:48 to play before intermission.
Rece Sanderson extended St. Louis’s advantage to four, 5-1 just 1:13 into the game’s final
frame, before the Woodsmen’s offense came to life on goals by Tyler Osborne and Maxim Lazo
to cut the deficit to 5-3 with 8:54 remaining in regulation.
That, however, would be as close as the Woodsmen would get, as Jr. Blues goalie Travis
Visvadra blanked Wisconsin over the final eight minutes to seal the St. Louis victory.
Along with their goals, Osborne and Schreiber also picked up assists to complete their two-
point nights for the Woodsmen.
The Jr. Blues held a commanding 43-20 advantage in shots on goal, with Lleyton Jaschke
finishing with 38 saves between the pipes for the Woodsmen.
The Woodsmen (2-7-0-0) will get another shot at the Jr. Blues on Saturday, when the two teams
return to the Affton Ice Arena in Affton, Mo., for the 6 p.m. NA3HL rematch.
