TOMAH, Wis. — After needing a pair of late, third-period goals to dispatch of the Peoria
Mustangs en route to Friday’s 5-4 victory, the Wisconsin Woodsmen took a different approach
— with the same positive results.
The Woodsmen erupted for eight goals — including hat tricks by both Hugh Deinema and
Patrick Bowers — and got 29 saves from Lleyton Jaschke, as Wisconsin completed its NA3HL
weekend sweep of the Mustangs with an 8-0 victory Saturday evening at the Tomah Ice Center.
Justin Funk and Bowser scored nine seconds apart late in the first period to give the Woodsmen
a 2-0 advantage heading into the first intermission.
Bowser netted his second of the game at 7:59 of the middle frame, jump-starting a four-gaol
second period for the Woodsmen. Deinema — who netted the game-winner in Friday’s 5-4
victory with 2:54 to play in regulation — scored the first of his three goals Saturday to extend
the lead to 4-0. Nathan Novaki chipped in his first as a Woodsmen four minutes later, and Deinema added his second of the night with 14 seconds to play to pad the Wisconsin lead to 6-0 after two periods.
Deinema tallied his third of the night, and team-leading 20 th of the season, four minutes into
the third period, and Bowser capped his first hat trick as a Woodsmen 18 seconds later to
round out the scoring.
Tristan May-Robinson collected his second three-assist game in as many nights, while Pierson
Zittel added a pair of helpers. Jaschke stopped all 29 shots he faced — including 13 in the third
period — in recording his first shutout in a Woodsmen sweater.
The Woodsmen and Mustangs will square off again next weekend, this time at the Owens
Center in Peoria, Ill. Opening faceoff on Friday is slated for 7 p.m., while Saturday’s rematch will
begin at 6 p.m.
