AFFTON, Mo. — The Wisconsin Woodsmen were good Saturday night — and they were even
better on Sunday.
The Woodsmen, who snapped a two-game losing streak with a 4-2 victory over the St. Louis Jr.
Blues on Saturday, got a pair of goals from Vincent Greene and a 35-save showing from Steven
Kelley, as Wisconsin completed its NA3HL sweep of the Jr. Blues with a 5-0 victory Sunday at
Affton Ice Rink.
Kelley, coming off a 56-save effort in Saturday’s win, was a virtual brick wall in Sunday’s
rematch, stopping everything the Jr. Blues threw at him en route to his second shutout of the
season.
And while Kelley was doing his part at the defensive end, Greene and Co. gave him plenty of
offensive support at the other end.
After a scoreless first period, Greene got the Woodsmen on the board at 7:07 of the second,
netting his 14 th of the season. Hugh Deinema netted his team-leading 27th of the year two
minutes later to make it 2-0, and Patrick Bowser and Greene would both score in the final 1:39
of the frame to extend the Wisconsin lead to 4-0.
The Woodsmen’s four-goal second period marked Wisconsin’s second straight game netting
four goals in a period, scoring all four of their goals in Saturday’s 4-2 victory in the third stanza.
Tristen May-Robinson rounded out the scoring, beating St. Louis goalie Oscar Pupillo for his
16th of the year four minutes into the third period.
Along with his two goals, Greene also picked up a pair of helpers en route to his four-point
afternoon, while Joshua Kauppinen, Cole Schreiber, and Micah Sieben also collected a pair of
helpers in the victory.
The Woodsmen, who have already locked up a spot in the NA3HL Fraser Cup Playoffs, will close
out their regular season with a pair of games next weekend. Wisconsin will host the league-
leading West Bend Power in a 7:15 p.m. matchup at the Tomah Ice Center on Friday, before
heading to the Rochester Rec Center in Rochester, Minn., for a 7:05 showdown against the
Rochester Grizzlies.
