FIRST-PLACE CYCLONES DEAL WOODSMEN 7-1 SETBACK

Oct 14, 2024

TOMAH, Wis. — There was plenty of offense on display when the Wisconsin Woodsmen and
Wausau Cyclones reconvened for the second game of their home-and-home weekend series
Saturday evening.

Unfortunately, most of the offensive fireworks came from the Cyclones, as Wausau erupted for
seven goals over the first two periods in dealing the Woodsmen a 7-1 NA3HL setback at the
Tomah Ice Center.

Wausau, coming off a 4-2 win over Wisconsin in Friday’s first game of the weekend, got goals
from Jake Garrow, Landon Bechtolt, and Micah Saxon to grab a 3-0 advantage heading into he
first intermission.

The Cyclones added four more unanswered goals — including the second of the game by both
Garrow and Saxon — before Tyler Osborne finally got the Woodsmen on the board with his
third of the season with 1:16 remaining in the middle period.

Lleyton Jaschke and Steven Kelley both saw action between the pipes for the Woodsmen, with
Jaschke finishing with 13 saves, while Kelley chipped in 12. Wausau goalie Derreck Namlick
kicked out 36 of Wisconsin’s 37 shots on goal.

The Woodsmen are back in action next weekend, Oct. 18-19, heading to Peoria, Ill., for a pair of
NA3HL games against the Peoria Mustangs. Opening faceoff in both contests in slated for 6 p.m.
at the Owens Center.
