CYCLONES DEAL WOODSMEN 5-2 SETBACK

Jan 18, 2026

WAUSAU, Wis. — After giving up 10 goals in a 10-4 loss to the Rochester Grizzlies on Friday
night, the Wisconsin Woodsmen clamped down in the defensive end against the Wausau
Cyclones Saturday, cutting their opponent’s offensive production in half.

Problem was, the Woodsmen’s offensive production was cut in half as well, as the Cyclones
dealt Wisconsin a 5-2 NA3HL setback at Marathon Park.

For the fourth straight game, the Woodsmen struck first against the Cyclones, getting a goal by
Parker Holloway midway through the opening period. Wausau, however, responded with a
power-play goal before the first period ended and added the only two goals of the second
period — scoring the two goals 12 seconds apart midway through the frame — to take a 3-1
lead into the final 20 minutes.

Ethan Foiles pulled the Woodsmen within one with his fifth goal of the season at 3:45 of the
third period, but the Cyclones answered with back-to-back goals by Davis Polifka and Owen
Renslow in a span of 1:08 latein th3e period to seal the Wausau victory.

Alex Rivolta was busy between the pipes for the Woodsmen, turning aside 43 of Wausua’s 48
shots on goal, while Cyclones goalie Brady Faille finished with 22 saves.

The Woodsmen (12-20-2-1) return to Marathon Park in Wausau, Wis., as they square off
against the Cyclones for two more NA3HL games. The two teams will face-off at 7:10 p.m. on
Friday, with Saturday’s rematch also slated for 7:10 p.m.
