WOODSMEN HAVE NO ANSWER FOR HIGH-SCORING CYCLONES

Oct 5, 2026

TOMAH, Wis. — It was a good news, bad news kind of night for the Wisconsin Woodsmen
Saturday night.

The Woodsmen and Wausau Cyclones combined for 10 goals in their first meeting of the season
— that was the good news.

The bad news? Eight of those goals were scored by Cyclones.

Wausau erupted for three first-period goals and did that effort one bett3er in the second, as
the Cyclones handed Wisconsin an 8-2 setback at the Tomah Ice Center.

The Cyclones flexed their offensive muscle from the opening face-off, pelting Woodsmen goalie
Dominic Seligman with nine first-period shots — including goals by Alec Mellon, Bryton
Thaxton, and Braden Myers.

And things went from bad to worse in the game’s middle frame, as Jackson Schroeder, Brady
Schutte, and Owen Renslow all found the back of the net in the first eight minutes of the period
to extend the Cyclone lead to 6-0.

Wisconsin finally broke through with 4:06 to play in the second on Nicholas Nugent’s first goal
as a Woodsmen, only to have Frank Goodman answer two minutes later to cap Wausau’s four-
goal second period and give the Cyclones a commanding 7-1 advantage heading into the second
intermission.

Both teams lit the lamp once in the third period, Wisconsin’s goal coming off the stick of Ozbej
Muzan on the power play midway through the stanza, while Myers rounded out the scoring
with his second of the night for Wausau with 1:34 to play.

Seligman finished with 11 saves for the Woodsmen, before being relieved by Nicholas Foy, who
made 13 saves in 38 minutes of relief. Gavan Norton, meanwhile, kicked out 29 of the 31 shots
he faced In recording the win for the Cyclones.

Wisconsin (4-3-1-0 overall) is back in action next weekend, with a home-and-home series
against the Fox Cities Forge. The two teams will square off at 7:15 p.m. at the Tomah Ice Center
on Friday, before heading to the Appleton Family Ice Center in Appleton, Wis., for the 7:30 p.m.
rematch the following evening.
