WOODSMEN SCOUTING REPORT:
- FOR THE RECORD: The Woodsmen head into their games against the Rochester Grizzlies and Wausau Cyclones sporting a 4-1-1-0 record, leaving them sitting atop the NA3HL Central Division standings with seven points. … Wisconsin finished with 19-24-2-2 record in 2025-26, good for 42 points and a fifth-place showing in the NA3HL Central Division standings.
- LAST TIME OUT: Wisconsin split its two games against the St. Louis Jr. Blues last weekend, with both games one-goal decisions. The Jr. Blues scored the game-winning goal midway through the third period in a 5-4 victory last Friday, while the Woodsmen netted the game-winner with two seconds remaining in overtime for a 1-0 win the following evening.
- HOME SWEET HOME: The Woodsmen played four of their six games in September on the road, but will play five of their eight October games on their home sheet, where they are 2-0-0-0 — thanks to back-to-back wins over the St. Louis Jr. Blues on Sept. 18-19. … Wisconsin collected 10 of its 19 wins last season on its home ice, going 10-11-0-2 at the Tomah Ice Center, while owning a 9-13-2-0 mark on the road.
- RIDING THE ROLLERCOASTER: Wisconsin scored the game’s first five goals in its season-opener against the Peoria Mustangs on Sept. 11, only to give up six unanswered tallies — including the game-winner with 1:11 remaining in overtime — in falling 6-5.
- WHITE-KNUCKLE RIDE: The Woodsmen’s two games against the St. Louis Jr. Blues last weekend marked the 16th and 17th times since the start of the 2025-26 season that Wisconsin has been involved in a game decided by one goal. … Wisconsin has now played 37 games over the last three seasons that have been decided by one goal — including 22 that have gone into overtime and six decided in a shootout. … Wisconsin lost both of its shootouts last season, falling to the Minnesota Moose on Nov. 15 and to the St. Louis Jr. Blues on Feb. 7.
- TURNING UP THE HEAT: With their 7-3 win over the Peoria Mustangs on Sept. 12, the Woodsmen have now scored six or more goals in a game 12 times since the start of last season, and have netted 6+ goals in a game 22 times over the last three seasons.
- SPREADING THE WEALTH: Wisconsin’s combined 12 goals against the Peoria Mustangs on Sept. 11-12 came from nine different players — including all five goals in the Woodsmen’s 6-5 OT loss last Friday.
- LIGHTING THE LAMP: Parker Holloway scored two of the Woodsmen’s four goals in last Friday’s 5-4 loss to the St. Louis Jr. Blues, giving him a team-leading five on the season. Jackson Haupt sits second in the goal-scoring race with four, followed by Cameron Hovden, Ty Paulios, and Ozbej Muzan with two each. Andrei Khomenko, Bryce Bechen, Jayden Hervey, Dayne Wafle, Myles Bible, Damien Calzada, and Jack Dahl have also found the back of the net this season. … Paulios led the team with 21 goals last season, five more than Holloway.
- LENDING A HELPING HAND: Khomenko has amassed a team-best seven assists through six games, two more than Holloway, Hovden, and Paulios. Paxton Raymond owns three assists, while Haupt, Muzan, and Bechen have all chipped in a pair of helpers.
- POINT PRODUCERS: With his five goals and five points, Holloway owns the team lead in points with 10, two up on Khomenko (1 G, 7 A). Paulios (2 G, 5 A) Hovden (2 G, 5 A) are third on the team with seven points each, followed by Haupt (4 G, 2 A) with six and Muzan (2 G, 2 A) with four. … Wisconsin boasted four players who accumulated 30 or more points last season, led by Paulios with 46 (21 G, 25 A).
- BETWEEN THE PIPES: The Woodsmen have used three different goalies through their first four games, with Dominic Seligman, Nicholas Roy, and Nicklas Timm all seeing time between the pipes. … Timm has been perfect in his two starts (124:00), shutting out the St. Louis Jr. Blues. He has made 39 saves en route to his 0.00 goals-against-average and 1.000 save percentage. Dominic Seligman has appeared in two games (120:00, compiling a 2.00 goals-against-average and .879 save percentage, while Nicholas Foy (2 GP, 123:00, 5.36 GAA, .883 save %) have also both made two starts. … Foy leads the team with 83 saves and Seligman has 29.
- RECORD-SETTER: Foy was a part of a pair of franchise records in his first start as a Woodsmen on Sept. 11 against the Peoria Mustangs. The 68 shots he faced were the most in franchise history, while his 62 saves were also the most in Woodsmen history.
- DEBUT TO REMEMBER: Timm made the most of his first start between the pipes for the Woodsmen, stopping all 11 shots he faced in recording the shutout in Wisconsin’s 2-0 win over the St. Louis Jr. Blues on Sept. 18. And then followed that up with shutout No. 2 against the Jr. Blues with a 28-save shutout effort eight days later.
GRIZZLIES SCOUTING REPORT
- FOR THE RECORD: The Grizzlies head into the weekend sporting a 3-0-1-1 overall record, good for eight points and a third-place showing in the NA3HL Central Division standings.
- LAST TIME OUT: Rochester dropped a pair of nailbiters to the West Bend Power last weekend, falling 5-4 in a shootout, before coming up one goal short in a 4-3 overtime decision the following evening.
- HOME SWEET HOME: Friday’s game against the Wisconsin Woodsmen is the sixth straight home game to open the season for the Grizzlies. Following Friday’s contest, Rochester will play five straight games on the road. The Grizzlies will not return home to the Rochester Rec Center until an Oct. 24 date against the Wisconsin Woodsmen.
- STREAK SNAPPER: Last Friday’s 5-4 shootout loss to the West Bend Power snapped the Grizzlies’ season-opening three-game winning streak.
- LIGHTING THE LAMP: Jace Jordan heads into the weekend leading the team with four goals through five games. Konnor Goclan and Sawyer Zaruba, meanwhile, have each found the back of the net three times. The trio have accounted for 10 of the team’s 19 goals, with nine other Grizzlies each scoring once.
- LENDING A HELPING HAND: Jordan leads the team with four assists, one more than Goclan, Zaruba, Conrad Edlund, Camryn Koch, and Gianni Brisson. Liam Doyle and Carter Kerkenbush, meanwhile, have each chipped in two helpers.
- POINT PRODUCERS: With his four goals and four assists, Jordan has amassed a team-leading eight points. Goclan (3 G, 3 A) and Zaruba (3 G, 3 A) are both second with six points each, followed by Edlund (1 G, 3 A) and Koch (1 G, 3 A) with four points apiece, while Dominic Arndt (1 G, 2 A) and Brisson (0 G, 3 A) have both chipped in three points.
- BETWEEN THE PIPES: Cameron Patrick and Christian Hill have handled the goaltending duties for the Grizzlies. Patrick has appeared in three games (176:00), compiling a 2.38 goals-against-average and a .919 save percentage, while Hill owns a 2.41 GAA and .925 save % in two starts (124:00). … Patrick has made a team-leading 79 saves, with Hill stopping 62 of the 67 shots he’s faced.
CYCLONES SCOUTING REPORT
- FOR THE RECORD: The Cyclones enter their weekend games sporting a 3-4-1-0 overall record, good for seven points and a fourth-place showing in the NA3HL Central Division standings.
- LAST TIME OUT: Wausau is coming off a pair of wins against the Fox Cities Forge, winning 4-2 last Friday, before completing the sweep with a 6-3 victory the following evening.
- CLAWING TOWARD .500: After opening the season with three straight losses, the Cyclones have won three of their last six, including last weekend’s sweep of the Fox Cities Forge.
- ROAD WARRIORS: Wausau is in the midst of playing nine of their first 10 games on the road, the lone home contest in that run … last Saturday’s 5-3 win over the Fox Cities Forge. … Wausau opened the season with seven consecutive road contests, and after last Saturday’s matchup against the Forge, the Cyclones play road contests at the Wisconsin Woodsmen on Saturday, and head to Peoria, Ill., for two games against the Peoria Mustangs next weekend, before finally returning home for a two-game set against the Fox Cities Forge on Oct. 16-17.
- LIGHTING THE LAMP: Jackson Maddock, Nate Spencer, and Jacob Maxon have all scored a team-best four goals through the Cyclones’ first eight games of the season. Bryton Thaxton and Brayden Myers each other three goals, with Alec Mellon chipping in two. Wausau’s other six goals have come from six different players.
- LENDING A HELPING HAND: Along with his one goal, Gabe Field has dished out a team-best nine assists, two more than Maddock. Lucas Mankoff is third on the team with four helpers, followed by Kaleb Fornetti and Maksim Salienko with three, and Spencer, Thaxton, Sean Hall, Brady Schutte, Cade Doud, Colton Knutsen, Owen Renslow, and Joel Anderson with two each.
- POINT PRODUCERS: Maddock and Field have already reached double figures in points through eight games. Maddock leads the way with 11 points (4 G, 7 A), followed by Field with 10 (1 G, 9 A). Spencer (4 G, 2 A) is sitting third with six points, followed by Maxon (4 G, 1 A), Thaxton (3 G, 2 A), and Mankoff (1 G, 4 A) with five points each, and Myers (3 G, 1 A) and Salenko (1 G, 3 A) with four apiece.
- BETWEEN THE PIPES: Wausau has had three different goalies see time between the pipes through the season’s first eight games. Gavan Norton has appeared in three games (181:00), posting a 3.31 goals-against-average and an .898 save percentage. Parker Nevenhoven has also played in three games (179:00), owning a 4.69 GAA and an .844 save %, while Draven Wirth has compiled a 4.95 GAA and .857 save % in two starts (121:00). … Norton leads the trio with 88 saves, followed by Nevenhoven with 76 and Wirth with 60.
