AFFTON, Mo. — The Wisconsin Woodsmen scored just two and three goals in its two games
against the St. Louis Jr. Blues last weekend — and came away with a pair of victories, winning 2-
0 and 3-1.
Friday evening, the Woodsmen and Jr. Blues met for a third straight time, and this time around,
Wisconsin’s offense was shifted into high gear.
Problem was, after being held to just a single tally in last weekend’s two losses, the Jr. Blues
found their missing offense as well, beating Woodsmen goalie Nicholas Foy five times —
including the game-winner midway through the third period in dealing Wisconsin a 5-4 NA3HL
setback at the Affton Ice Rink.
Goals came fast and furious in the game’s opening 20 minutes, with the two teams combining
for six first-period goals, and they headed into the first intermission deadlocked at 3-3.
Jack Dahl kicked off the scoring for the Woodsmen, netting his first of the season just 2:19 after
the opening face-off. St. Louis answered with back-to-back goals in a three-minute span to grab
a brief 2-1 lead, only to have Parker Holloway find the back of the net twice to put the
Woodsmen up 3-2.
That, however, would be the last time the Woodsmen would play with the lead.
Finn Boehm closed out the six-goal first period with his second of the year to knot the game at
3-3, and Jack Vahle put the Jr. Blues back out front, 4-3, with five minutes to play in the middle
frame. Ozbej Muzan pulled the Woodsmen even before the second period expired, only to have
Landon Knittel net the only goal of the third period to give the Jr. Blues the nail-biting victory.
Foy finished with 21 saves for the Woodsmen, while Keaton Pardy kicked out 37 of the 41 shots
he faced between the pipes for the Jr. Blues.
The Woodsmen (3-1-1-0) will get another shot at the Jr. Blues on Saturday, when the two teams
return to the Affton Ice Rink for the 5:45 p.m. NA3HL rematch.
