WOODSMEN COMPLETE SWEEP OF JR. BLUES WITH 3-1 WIN

Sep 20, 2026

TOMAH, Wis. — When you play defense the way the Wisconsin Woodsmen did against the St.
Louis Jr. Blues over the weekend, there wasn’t much need for an explosive offense.

After limiting the Jr. Blues to 11 shots on goal in a 2-0 victory Friday evening, the Woodsmen
were back at it at their defensive best once again in the rematch on Saturday, holding St. Louis
to 12 shots on goal — and a lone, late third-period tally — in completing the NA3HL sweep with
a 3-1 victory at the Tomah Ice Center.

The Woodsmen — who limited St. Louis to just five shots on goal in the first two periods
combined, including a single shot in the middle frame — appeared well on their way to a
second straight shutout, holding the Jr. Blues without a goal until the 15-minute mark of the
third period, before Wyatt Thomas foiled Wisconsin’s bid for shutout No. 2 with his first goal of
the season.

By the time Thomas beat Woodsmen goalie Dominic Seligman, however, the Woodsmen had
already lit the lamp three times — once in the second period and twice more in the third — in
rolling to their third win in four games this season.

After a scoreless first period, Parker Holloway got Wisconsin on the board at 13:59 of the
second frame, and the Woodsmen would carry that one-goal advantage into the second
intermission.

Andrei Khomenko extended the Wisconsin lead to 2-0 six minutes into the third period, and
Cameron Hovden added his first as a Woodsmen four minutes later to make it a 3-0 advantage.
Seligman finished with 11 saves between the pipes for the Woodsmen, while St. Loius goalie
Vinny Malino kicked out 31 of Wisconsin’s 34 shots on goal.

The Woodsmen (3-0-1-0 overall) and Jr. Blues will go at it again next weekend, this time at the
Affton Ice Rink in Affton, Mo. The two teams will square off at 8:30 p.m. on Friday night, before
completing the two-game NA3HL series at 5:45 p.m. the following evening.
