KETTLE MORAINE, Wis. — It was a game of quantity vs. quality — and after a 66 minutes
stalemate, quality won out.
The West Bend Power, winners of the NA3HL Central Division regular-season title, owned the
quantity — outshooting the visiting Wisconsin Woodsmen 40-15 through three periods of play.
But the Woodsmen made the most of their meager 15 shots, scoring twice, both coming off the
stick of Tristan Pownall — including the second one minute into overtime, lifting Wisconsin to a
2-1 victory over the Power at the Kettle Moraine Ice Center.
And while Pownall was doing his part on the offensive end, Lleyton Jaschke did hit part on the
defensive end, stopping 39 of the Power’s 40 shots on goal to help secure the OT victory.
Despite being outshot 14-2, it would be the Woodsmen who would strike first, scoring on the
second of their two shots on goal when Tristan Pownall beat Power goalie Ben Glaesman with
just over five minutes to play in the period to give Wisconsin a 1-0 lead after 20 minutes of play.
Josh Kauppinen and Parker Holloway were credted with the assists on Pownall’s sixth goal of
the season.
Michael Maillette scored his ninth of the season at 12:36 of the middle frame to pull the Power
even. Neither team would find the back of the net over the final 7:24 of the period, leaving the
game in a stalemate at 1-1 heading into the second intermission.
West Bend continued to dominate the shots on goal battle, holding a 9-0 edge through the first
seven minutes of the third period, but Woodsmen goalie Lleyton Jaschke was up to the
challenge, turning aside all nine shots to keep the game deadlocked.
Wisconsin didn’t get its first shot on goal in the third period until the 12:38 mark, and finished
with just five third-period shots, while the Power peppered Jaschke with 15 shots in the 20-
minute frame — none of which eluded the Woodsmen netminder, forcing the game into
overtime.
And it took the Woodsmen exactly one minute in the extra session, as Pownall once again beat
Glaesman to secure the Wisconsin victory.
Wisconsin (19-23-2-2) will close out their 2025-26 season on their home ice on Saturday, when
they welcome the Power to the Tomah Ice Center for a 7:15 p.m. NA3HL rematch.
