WOODSMEN DROP JUNIOR BLUES IN SHOOTOUT

Feb 28, 2026

AFFTON, Mo. — The last time the Wisconsin Woodsmen and St. Louis Junior Blues squared off,
neither game could be decided in the allotted 60 minutes, with the Woodsmen taking a 2-1
overtime victory, while the Junior Blues went the shootout route for a 5-4 win.

And Friday evening, the two teams were punching in for a little overtime once again.

Ozbej Muzan scored on the Woodsmen’s fourth shootout attempt and Wisconsin goalie Alex
Rivolta stopped all four Junior Blues’ attempts to give the Woodsmen a 3-2 victory in a key
NA3HL matchup at the Affton Ice Rink.

With the victory, the Woodsmen clawed within seven points of the Junior Blues for the fourth
spot in the Central Division standings with three games to play in the regular season.

The Woodsmen grabbed the early momentum Friday night, getting back-to-back goals from
Anthony Moorehead and Ty Paulios in the first half of the opening period. Caden Lindley cut the
Woodsmen lead in half with a goal with 8:17 to play to leave Wisconsin clinging to a 2-1 edge
heading into the first intermission.

The Junior Blues’ Teagan Lee found the back of the net with less than eight minutes to play in
regulation to knot the game at 2-2 — and it would stay that way through the final 27:51 of
regulation and through the overtime period.

The Woodsmen’s Holloway, Tristan Pownall, and Josh Kauppinen were all thwarted in the
shootout, setting up Muzan fourth-shooter heroics. Rivolta, meanwhile, stopped all four Junior
Blues’ shooters — to go along with 39 shots over regulation and overtime.

The Woodsmen (22-19-2-1) get another crack at the Junior Blues on Saturday, when the two
teams return to Affton Ice Rink for a 7 p.m. NA3HL rematch.
