TOMAH, Wis. — The Wisconsin Woodsmen and Peoria Mustangs headed into Friday’s NA3HL
showdown both searching for an offensive spark.
The Woodsmen took the ice having managed just two goals in each of their losses to the
Wausau Cyclones last weekend, while the Mustangs were black in both of their setbacks at the
hands of the league-leading West Bend Power.
And when the final horn sounded at the Tomah Ice Center, one offense was shifted into high
gear, and the other remained in neutral.
Which proved to be good news for the Woodsmen.
Wisconsin scored goals in every period, including three in the second period, as the Woodsmen
rolled to a 6-0 win over the Mustangs, snapping a six-game losing streak.
Wisconsin got things rolling six minutes into the first period, as Tyler Osborne scored the only
goal of the frame to give the Woodsmen a 1-0 lead.
Patrick Bowser pushed the Woodsmen lead to 2-0 11 minutes into the second period, and by
the time the horn sounded, Parker Holloway and Nolan Mix had also found the back of gthe net
to extend the Wisconsin lead to 4-0 with 20 minutes to play.
Anthony Moorehead and Brandon Slasor chipped in third-period goals to complete the s coring,
while Lleyto Jaschke stopped all 14 shots he faced to preserve the shutout.
The Woodsmen outshot the Mustangs 36-14 and did not allow the visitors more than six shots
in a period, including outshooting Peoria 13-3 in the first period and 12-5 in the second.
Wisconsin (12-22-3-1) will go for the sweep of Peoria on Saturday, as the Woodsmen host the
Mustangs in another 7:15 p.m. NA3HL showdown at the Tomah Ice Center.
