WOODSMEN SUFFER SECOND STRAIGHT 8-3 LOSS TO LEAGUE-LEADING POWER

Feb 23, 2025

KETTLE MORAINE, Wis. — The Wisconsin Woodsmen found themselves with a severe case of
déjà vu Saturday evening.

And that wasn’t a good thing.

Fresh off an 8-3 loss to West Bend Friday evening, the Woodsmen got another crack at the
league-leading Power on Saturday — with virtually the exact same outcome.

The Power, who scored seven third-period goals in Friday’s victory, spread things out a bit in
Saturday’s rematch, scoring once in the first period, four times in the second and three times in
the third en route to the exact same result, a second straight 8-3 win over the Woodsmen at
Kettle Moraine Ice Arena.

For the second game in a row, the Woodsmen struck first, and for the second straight game, it
was Hugh Deinema doing the honors, netting goal No. 26 on the year at 14:52 of the opening
frame.

Jackson Hoem answered for the Power three minutes later and the two teams headed into the
first intermission deadlocked at 1-1.

Brayden Graning gave West Bend its first lead of the game 5:33 into the second period, but the
lead did not last long, as Brandon Slasor scored his 10th of the year two minutes later to re-tie
the game at 2-2.

And then the Power went to work.

West Bend scored three times in the final 10 minutes of the middle frame — including twice by
Mike Sobaski — and added three unanswered goals to open the third, before Vincent Greene
rounded out the scoring with his 12th of the year for the Woodsmen.

Justin Funk picked up a pair of assists for the Woodsmen, while Lleyton Jaschke was busy
between the pipes, kicking out 40 of the Power’s 48 shots on goal.

The Woodsmen are back in action — and back on the road — next weekend, heading to the
Affton Ice Rink in Affton, Mo., for a pair of NA3HL games against the St. Louis Jr. Blues.
Saturday’s game is slated for 3:30 p.m., with Sunday’s rematch scheduled for an 11:30 a.m.
puck drop.
