WOODSMEN OPEN 2025-26 SEASON WITH 2-GAME SERIES VS. GRIZZLIES
The Wisconsin Woodsmen kick off the 2025-2026 season with a two-game NA3HL series against
the Rochester Grizzlies. The Woodsmen will host the Grizzlies in a 7:15 p.m. contest at the
Tomah Ice Center on Friday, before the two teams head to the Rochester Rec Center in
Rochester, Minn., for Saturday’s 6:50 p.m. rematch.

WOODSMEN SCOUTING REPORT:
• FOR THE RECORD: The Woodsmen head into their season-opening series against the
Rochester Grizzlies on the heels of a 24-16-6-3 showing in 2024-25, good for fourth place in the
NA3HL Central Division standings.
• LAST TIME OUT: Wisconsin dropped both games in its Fraser Cup opening round series against
the West Bend Power — with both games decided in overtime. The top-seeded Power scored
the game-tying goal with 17 seconds remaining in regulation, then netted the game-winner 7:43
in to overtime, lifting West Bend to a 3-2 victory in Game 1 of the teams’ best-of-3 Fraser Cup
series. The After battling to a 4-4 stalemate through the game’s opening 60 minutes in the
teams’ rematch the following evening, the Power got the game- and series-ending goal from
Brody Josselyn midway through the first overtime, lifting West Bend to a 5-4 victory.
• HOME SWEET HOME: Wisconsin closed out the season sitting at 11-8-3-3 on the road, while
going 13-8-3-0 at the Tomah Ice Center.
• STREAK-SNAPPER I: With their 5-2 loss to the Rochester Grizzlies on Nov. 8, 2024, the
Woodsmen had their franchise-record six-game winning streak snapped.
• STREAK-SNAPPER II: With their 6-4 victory over the Rochester Grizzlies on Feb. 7, 2025, the
Woodsmen put an end to their season-high five-game losing streak.
• WHITE-KNUCKLE RIDE: With their 3-2 and 5-4 season-ending losses to the West Bend Power in
the Fraser Cup, the Woodsmen played 20 games decided by one goal — including 11 that went
into overtime and three decided in a shootout.
• FRANCHISE FIRST: After going 0-9-0-1 in its 10 meetings against Wausau Cyclones during the
2023-2024 season, the Woodsmen picked up their first-ever win against the Cyclones with a 3-2
victory on Sept. 20, 2024, and added win No. 2 with a 6-3 victory on Dec. 21, 2024.
• FRANCHISE FIRST II: Wisconsin’s Oct. 18-19, 2024 games against the Rochester Grizzlies
marked the first-ever meeting between the Woodsmen and the Grizzlies. … The Woodsmen’s
two games against the Minnesota Moose on Dec. 6-7, 2024 — as well as their NA3HL Showcase
games against the Mason City Toros and Minnesota Wilderness on Dec. 15-16, 2024 — were
also the first in franchise history.
• LIGHTING THE LAMP: Hugh Deinema closed out the 2024-25 campaign with a team-leading 27
goals. … Deinema’s 27 goals were a single-season franchise record. … Nolan Mix finished second
to Deinema, closing out the season with 22 goals, followed by Maxim Lazo (21) and Joshua
Kauppinen (20).
• FRANCHISE BEST: Lazo equaled the franchise record by scoring four goals against the Mason
City Toros on Dec. 16, 2024. Mix had set the program record, scoring four goals against the
Minnesota Loons on Jan. 26, 2024.
• FRANCHISE BEST II: Deinema and Patrick Bowser each scored three goals in the Wisconsin 8-0
win over Peoria on Dec. 28, marking the first time in franchise history the Woodsmen had to
players scored hat tricks in the same game.
• TOSSING THE HAT: The Woodsmen had a player record three of more goals in a game five
times last season. Lazo owned three- and four-goal games, while Deinema, Bowser, and
Brandon Laso had Wisconsin’s other three-goal games.
• TURNING UP THE HEAT: The Woodsmen erupted for 18 goals in their two-game sweep of
Peoria on Oct. 18-19, 2024. The eight goals scored in their 8-1 win on Oct. 18 were the most
Wisconsin had scored all season, only to be two-upped with the Woodsmen’s 10-goal eruption
in their 10-7 win the following evening. … The Woodsmen’s 10 goals against Peoria on Oct. 19,
2024 were the most since netting a franchise-record 14 against the Minnesota Loons on Jan. 26,
2024. … The Woodsmen scored 8+ goals in a game three times last season.
• RIGHT ON TARGET: The Woodsmen finished with a season-high 67 shots on goal against
Peoria on Oct. 19, 2024 — including 20 in the first period and 29 in their six-goal second period.
… Wisconsin’s 67 shots on goal were the third-most in franchise history and just two shy of the
program record of 69, set against the Minnesota Loons on Jan. 27, 2024.
• LENDING A HELPING HAND: Viktor Budik amassed a team-leading and single-season franchise-
record 40 assists last season, five up on Deinema, who was second on the squad with 35
helpers. The duo were among 13 Woodsmen with 10+ assists last season. … Mix picked up four
assists in Wisconsin’s 8-2 win over St. Louis on Nov. 2, 2024, one shy of the single-game
franchise record of five, set by Hunter Nelson against the Minnesota Loons on Jan. 26, 2024.
• TRIPLE-DOUBLE: Tristen May-Robinson enjoyed a rare weekend triple double against Peoria
on Dec. 27-28, 2024, collecting three assists in each game.
• POINT PRODUCERS: With his 27 goals and 35 assists, Deinema sat atop the team’s points race
with 62 — breaking his franchise record of 49 points during the 2023-24 campaign (29 G, 20 A).
Deinema was one of six Woodsmen with 40 or more points last season, being joined by Budik
(10 G, 40 A, 50 Pts), Kauppinen (20 G, 29 A, 49 Pts), May-Robinson (17 G, 30 A, 47 Pts), Lazo (21
G, 23 A, 44 Pts), and Mix (22 G, 22 A, 44 Pts). … Mix’s five-point game against the St. Louis Jr.
Blues on Nov. 2, 2024 — scoring once and adding assisting on four others — were a season-high
and one-shy of the franchise record. … Greene enjoyed a four-point night against the St Louis Jr.
Blues on March 2, 2025, scoring twice and assisting on two others in the Woodsmen’s 5-0 win.
• AMONG THE LEAGUE’S BEST: Budik’s 40 assists last season ranked 13th among all NA3HL
players, while Deinema’s 27 goals ranked 20th, and his 62 points ranked 18th.
• BETWEEN THE PIPES: Steven Kelley appeared in a team-leading 25 games, compiling a 3.31
goals-against-average and an .889 save percentage. Lleyton Jaschke boasted a 4.21 GAA and an
.861 save %, while Otto Reinhart (3.00 GAA, .881 save %), Andrew Peterson (1.99 GAA, .920 save
%), and Kieron Wise (4.12 GAA, .857 save %) also saw time between the pipes. … Kelley amassed
738 saves in 25 games, with Jaschke sitting second, kicking out 511 shots in 21 appearances.
• FIRING BLANKS: Kelley picked up the team’s first shutout of the season on Dec. 17, 2024
stopping all 17 shots he faced in blanking the Badlands Sabres 3-0. The shutout marked the
second time in as many meetings with the Sabres that the Woodsmen held Badlands scoreless,
winning 5-0 in the teams’ NA3HL Showcase meeting during the 2023-24 season. … Kelley added
his second shutout of the season with 35 saves in Wisconsin’s 5-0 win over the St. Louis Jr. Blues
on March 2, 2025. … Jaschke posted his first shutout between the pipes for the Woodsmen with
a 29-save showing against the Peoria Mustangs on Dec. 28, 2024.
• BUSY WEEKEND: Kelley faced 93 shots in the Woodsmen’s two games against the St. Louis Jr.
Blues on March 1-2, 2025, stopping 56 shots in Wisconsin’s 4-2 March 1 win, before adding 35 in
a 5-0 shutout the following day.
ROCHESTER SCOUTING REPORT:
• FOR THE RECORD: The Grizzlies closed out the 2024-25 season boasting a 31-16-4-2 record,
good for third place in the NA3HL Central Division standings.
• LAST TIME OUT: Rochester went the maximum three games in its second round Fraser Cup
matchup against the West Bend Power. Unfortunately, after opening the best-of-3 series with a
5-0 win, the Grizzlies dropped back-to-back 3-2 decisions to the Power to put an end to its
season. … Rochester had opened post-season play with a best-of-3 series win over the Wausau
Cyclones — splitting the first two games, before advancing with a 5-1 win in the winner-take-all
third game.
• LIGHTING THE LAMP: Mason Decker closed out the year last season as the team’s goal-scoring
leader, finishing the year with 25 goals. Tyler Steuck finished second to Decker with 19 goals,
followed by Noah Gillette with 18and Aiden Emerich with 17.
• LENDING A HELPING HAND: Emerich boasted a team-leading 34 assists last season, three
more than Gillette. The pair were among six Grizzlies with 20 or more helpers last season, being
joined by Ben Parent (28), Josh Wolf (22), Steuck (21), and Noah Joyce (21).
• POINT PRODUCERS: Fueled by his 17 goals and 34 assists, Emerich was the teams’ points
leader last season with 51. Gillette (49), Decker (42), and Steuck (40) also delivered 40+ points a
year ago, while Parent (37), Joyce (35), and Wolf (30) were all members of the 30-point club.
• BETWEEN THE PIPES: The Grizzlies used six different goalies between the pipes last season, led
by Joey Bertram, who compiled a 2.32 goals-against-average and .918 save percentage in 15
games. Andrew Dubin played in a tea-high 22 contests, posting a 3.21 GAA and .882 save %,
while Austin Durkop (7 GP, 2.48 GAA, .899 save %), Riley Swanson (10 GP, 2.81 GAA, .856 save
%), Game Otis (6 GP, 1.50 GAA, .940 save %), and Sawyer Torkelson (1 GP, 1.87 GAA, .882 save
%) also saw time between the pipes. … Dubin led the Grizzlies with 551 saves, followed by Bertram with 353.
